Day:  24stanfords1
Business:  Stanford’s Restaurant & Bar
Offer:  $20 towards food and drink
Via:  Membership from RUI Eat, Drink & Earn Rewards club

Introducing one of my top Must-Have birthday offers for celebrating your big day at any time of the month — Restaurants Unlimited.  What exactly is Restaurants Unlimited?  Well, think of them as the parent umbrella company for a number of well-established Portland area restaurants that you’ve probably eaten at before — Stanford’s, Newport Seafood Grill and Henry’s Tavern among many others.  Sign up online for the free Eat, Drink & Earn Rewards club and be sure to include your birth date.  You will receive a membership number via email, and then near the beginning of your birthday month you will receive email confirmation that a $20 dining credit has been loaded onto your number. Yes!

I decided to use my $20 credit for a weekend happy hour at the Lloyd Center Stanford’s Restaurant & Bar.  Arriving around 5:30pm, the lounge was packed with Portland Winterhawk hockey fans, but I was able to snag the last two spots right up at the bar.  The happy hour bar menu is extensive with a number of options from appetizers and sliders to nachos and baby back ribs, starting from $2.95 up to $7.95.  My wife joined me at the bar and we ended up ordering a glass of wine, potato wedges, nachos and a chopped salad.  When our bill was presented to us, we simply provided our wait staff with my membership number and they were able to input it into the system and take off $20.  Total cost of our meals with tip?  $7.00.

The beauty of the $20 birthday credit is the almost limitless options you have to use it — happy hour, dinner, brunch, drinks, dessert…and the number of restaurants you can use it at.  Feeling like taking the family to a bit of 50’s diner nostalgia?  Then head over to Billy Heartbeats.  Perhaps you are in the mood for something fire roasted?  Then consider Manzana.  Or maybe you want to dress up for fine wining and dining while gazing at an impressive skyline?  Then definitely choose the Portland City Grill.  Additionally, if you are heading out of town, Restaurants Unlimited has other restaurants outside of Oregon.  Try Cutters Crabhouse at the Pike Place Market in Seattle or Palomino in Dallas, TX.  Wherever you go and whatever you order, just be sure to have your membership number on hand and give it to your server to redeem your birthday credit.  Final bonus:  your credit expires on the final day of your birthday month, so you’ll have at a minimum four weeks to use it.  As you can see, this is one of the most generous birthday offers out there so no excuses, get out there and celebrate!
