It’s my Birthday Month! And I’m taking advantage of all the birthday deals available to me by attempting to get one birthday deal every day. Please read more about my mission in my “About” page. On we go!!
Business: John’s Incredible Pizza Co.
Offer: One free buffet
Via: John’s VIP Elite membership card ($5 annual fee)
John’s Incredible Pizza opened up four years ago to great fanfare inside the remodeled building of a former Circuit City electronics store near Washington Square. Their concept is a pizza buffet restaurant with arcade games and rides — a souped up version of a Chuck E Cheese. But unlike other restaurants where you can just go in and hang out, Incredible John’s Pizza requires all people passing through the entrance to purchase one buffet meal.
Their birthday offer is pretty simple: you get one free buffet any day during your birthday month. The catch is that you have to sign up for the VIP Elite membership, which will set you back a fee of $5 per year. This $5 will get you a VIP card that entitles you to earn pizza bucks, win prizes at each visit by scanning your card at the front kiosk, get extra fun world credits, and of course get a free buffet during the month of your birthday. There is also a Kid’s Club version for only $2 per year for children ages 3-12.
So is the buffet worth the price of the membership? I think so, especially if you go during the dinner hours or on the weekends. The buffet gets you all you care to eat food, but it does not include drinks. Soda pop, draft beer and wine are sold separately. As far as the buffet goes, it is heavy on the carbs but they do have a nicely appointed salad bar. They have over fifteen pizza combinations to choose from (and if you don’t see one on the buffet, just ask them to make it), two soups, a variety of pasta sauces and noodles, mashed potatoes, fried chicken, corn, baked beans, fried potato rounds, breadsticks and a full dessert bar (soft serve ice cream with cookies, cinnamon rolls, donuts, cakes, etc.). Lunch is $6.99 and dinner is $9.99 for adults.
For kids, the real draw is the lure of the Fun World amusements — bumper cars, twister ride, lazer tag, video games, air hockey, redemption skill games — over 100 in all. Adults will also find appealing game distractions such as basketball Pop-A-Shot, football passing skills, racing games and more. I imagine that John’s Incredible Pizza makes most of their money from Fun World, and from hosting birthday party groups. As stated before, this building once housed Circuit City, so this place is huge. There are six different themed dining rooms to please the little ones (Toon Time) as well as to please those a little older (Hall of Fame with sports broadcasted on big screens). Incredible John’s Pizza is a fun place to eat and a fun place to play. For the $5 VIP membership, taking advantage of the free birthday buffet perk is definitely a Must-Have. Just think — your kids will always look forward to celebrating your birthday with you! As far as my visit went, I ate too much but was able to burn off a few of those calories by taking in some of the Fun World games — a fitting way to end my birthday month!
