It’s my Birthday Month! And I’m taking advantage of all the birthday deals available to me by attempting to get one birthday deal every day. Please read more about my mission in my “About” page. On we go!!
Business: Starbucks Coffee
Offer: Complimentary birthday drink or treat
Via: Starbucks Rewards Card
I received a gift card to Starbucks a few years back and registered it online with my birth date. Starbucks will usually email the card holder during the first of the month to let them know that their birthday offer has been loaded onto the card. In the past, the offer was just a drink, but the program has been expanded to now include any food item as well. This includes food choices such as baked goods, breakfast items, yogurt & fruit, sweet treats, salads and sandwiches. You have until the end of your birthday month to use it.
I’m not a huge coffee drinker, and probably only go to Starbucks twice a year. I do love their frappuccino blended ice beverages on a hot summer day, but with my super high IQ I deduced that it might not be the best item to get on a day that was 37 degrees outside. So I decided to try out an Eggnog latte, which makes absolutely no sense since I am not a fan of eggnog and I am not a coffee drinker (too strong!). But fortunately for me, my wife said she would make the sacrifice and drink it if I didn’t like it. Yeah, the suffering of my poor wife! (ahem, she is the coffee drinker)
I ordered, handed over my Starbucks Rewards Card, and voila, free! The card reader gizmo recognized my free birthday offer and I paid zilch for the hot drink. Turns out that it wasn’t as bad as I thought it would be; Lisa still helped me out with finishing it off. And on a cold day like today, this was a perfect birthday beverage to warm me up. But maybe next year I’ll spring for the frozen frappuccino stuff instead!
Verdict: A Definite Treat
